The New Kent Realm Virginia Neighborhood
of Edward and Elizabeth JOHNSON
I admission where I not here off in EDWJOHNS -- with the question of one or two Edward Johnsons in New Kent Co.? -- based on the proximity of one Edward to William Atkinson who operated a dinghy on the Pamunkey Flow in 1684, seeing that the one we are researching is grow on Powhite Quagmire. Bonnie Flythe came up with substitute logical explanation in announcement publicized 9/2/99:

Bonnie's answer: "The dinghy man in 1689 was Benj. Buckley. Wm Atkinson seems to keep quit and possibly stimulated in the opposite direction Edward Johnson."
Susan Stewart discussed this awfully point in a letter to Dick Baldauf publicized April 1996: "The distance is not great with Powhite Quagmire and the Pamunkey Flow and grant is no way of sophisticated at this time specifically how the land of William Atkinson was to be found as a neighbor of Edward's. 1664 Samuel Snead was occupation on the Pamunkey Flow in New Kent Realm and now is King William Realm. One of his contiguous neighbors was Capt. William Bassett.
... Susan Sneed who wed Thomas Renalls (Reynolds) next becomes an innate computation. Describe that the youngster of Capt. Christopher Clark and Penelope Johnson -
- Rachel "M", born in 1714 married as her first husband Thomas Moorman in
1729/30. Thomas Moorman was the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Reynolds) Moorman.
Bet this Elizabeth Reynolds is a teen of Susan (Snead) Renalls and her son is named following Susan's husband, Thomas Renalls." [He was for "Eliz. daugh' to Tho. Renalls Bapt 15 of Assert 1690-1" in the St. Peter's Borough Convey is the lot ensemble of Charles Moorman -- see CHAS/ELIZ in the Moorman directory of my webpage.]

is a neighbor of Capt. William Bassett. Is this the awfully Capt. William Bassett or is it his son, next named William, who is seen as a neighbor of Edward Johnson and Thomas Mims in 1690? Christopher Clark was named executor of the garden of Alexander Snead in lieu of Matthew Snead. This indicates a faster connection to the Sneads than the fact that Christopher's youngster married a descendent in Susan Snead Rennals way back in 1652."
Susan next picks up on connections to / with Alexander McKenney -- see my style MCKENEY in the Hodge-Podge directory that focuses on McKenney and Christopher Clark connections. In his letter to me April 1996, Dick Baldauf asked "Were you sagacious that grant was an history Daniel Johnson who was a neighbor of Alexander MacKenney? Susan wonders if Edward and Daniel are not brothers?... Your records... show he [McKenney] lived flanking to John Watson, symptomatic of that Michael [said to be Edward's son] was in the right close relationship to joint John's youngster Sarah Watson.... MacKenney was a Quaker but was in the same way as disowned."
Except trying to stay on the district of Edward and Elizabeth, I want to add one above of Susan's observations: "Moreover of you mentioned a Col. Richard Johnson at Pamunkey Collar in 1695. He is the one who had a youngster who wed a James Johnson, parentage without a template. Linda writes that Col. Johnson is on the first processioning list in St. Peter's Borough. Could he and his mystery son-in-law be substitute secure in this puzzle?
Hitchhiker Data lines
As far as I can reckon, Dr. Lorand is the source miserable Hitchhiker as Elizabeth's luminary. The St. Peter's inborn write down for four of their line identifies the father as "Elizabeth" only. If Doug is right in this idea, it still is basic to find evince that this Alexander Hitchhiker family came to Virginia.
Second problem: the youngster Elizabeth assumed to be born to George Hitchhiker and Ann Keith can't be the ensemble to Edward of New Kent. She would keep been but a tot equally her first recorded youngster Thomas was baptized in 1680. So Dr.

Katherine Cochrane, who stumbled onto my webpage June 1998, e-mailed that Elizabeth, youngster of George Hitchhiker and Ann (Keith) married Stephen Dewey.
Even, she cites a CD as her source. She next followed up on my observe the Anglican priest, George Keith of Kiskeake Borough, York Co., was remarkably partnered to the greater Quaker George Keith. Bonnie to be found two in addition references to this Edward Johnson of York Co. in the greater book:
11 NOV 1670 John Cooper is reliable to pay Edward Johnson 323 lbs tob. Myhill, one of the witnesses for Johnson, is to be sworn. [p. 177]
1 DEC 1671 Mr. Robert Neale is reliable to pay Edward Johnson, assignee of John Cooper, 200 lbs tob. [p. 221]
"Myhill" seems a ordinary deceit for "Michael", but it appears as a luminary in another York Co. records so we shouldn't deposit time pursuing that part. Even, the luminary 'Cooper' is Maybe eloquent during. One of
Penelope's granddaughters, Sarah Anthony, married Thomas Cooper. Add the unrelenting words that Penelope is by some means coupled to Lady Shaftsbury, a.k.a.
Anthony Ashley Cooper -- who used the luminary JOHNSON equally escaping from England following 1679 --and we keep substitute interesting set of connections. But at this point in time, that's ALL grant is to this -- Cooper researchers are operating on

Edward's name is evidently dated in a list of accepted Quakers -- p. 146 Hinshaw's vol. of VA Manual of American Quaker Genealogy within the history of the Henrico Weekly Huddle, contributed by Mrs. Douglas Summers Brown: "... we would be making a overestimate to be sure about that Curles and its point town was the only neighborhood in this part of a set where Quakers were active and holding meetings beside 1699. A regard of the Convey of Saint Peter's district... is significant in that it names regular men... whose names next come into view habitually in the Quaker records. Along with these are: Charles Fleming, John Realy (Raley), Thomas Moorman, James Forested, Rice Hughes, Richmond Terrell, Sisilly Ellison, Alexander Mackeney, Thomas Stanley, Thomas Harris, William and John Johnson, Robert Ellison, Top story Robert Elleson, Robert Hughes and others.
How regular of these were Quakers in 1686 it is unruly to say, time some were
... unquestionable at a in the same way as date."
Certain everybody who came over with William Edmundson as Dr. Lorand says Edward did, would keep finished this list of peak Quakers.
