Robert Pattinson Remember Me A Movie Review

Robert Pattinson Remember Me A Movie Review
I loved Twilight, liked New Moon and became a fan of Robert Pattinson over the past year. When I first heard he was going to appear in a new movie, called Remember Me, I was interested and looking forward to it coming out. I watched some of the filming while the crew was in NY. That was pretty fun, but another story entirely.

It essentially tells the tale of a college student,Tyler (Pattinson) and his relationship with a father that works too much and expresses little feeling toward his children. An older brother committed suicide because of it. Tyler wanders through life aimlessly as he struggles to come to terms with his brothers death, his tenuous connection with his father and the love and concern he feels for his little sister who is showing great promise as a serious artist.

Tyler has a run-in with a police officer who indulges in a little police brutality because he can. Tyler gets arrested and the closest exchange between him and his dad occurs when dad bails him out of jail, not once but twice. Tyler's friend encourages him to have a cavalier affair with the officer's daughter as an act of revenge. She moves in with him, not knowing what his plan is. When the plan is discovered, the girl is devastated and returns home. Tyler has developed real feelings for her and tries to get her back.

Tyler's father makes promises he doesn't keep as usual and it's a big deal when he doesn't show up for his daughters art show at school because of aother work related mishap. Tyler shows up at a board meeting and goes off on his dad. His father rages at him and appears not to understand where his son is coming from, but apparently he has done some thinking of his own.

He starts taking the child to school, much to Tyler's surprise. Tyler waits at his dad's office to meet up with him and discovers some heart warming information about his father. Maybe he didn't know how much his dad cares afterall.

As I was watching the movie I wasn't sure where the story was going. It seemed to be more of a showcase to exhibit Robert Pattinson. By the end of it, I had a different perception. The surprise ending put an entirely different spin on the story. Wow. It is really about a slice of life, about the little things both good and bad that happen to all of us and how important it is to treasure those we love and not waste time with the foolish petty things that anger and annoy us. In the end what's important is those we love and making sure we let them know that. Grasping this concept, makes the story a lot clearer and leaves the viewer with a sense of resonance. My only regret is that you had to get to the end of the movie to grasp it. If you see it twice, it makes a lot more sense and has greater meaning.

Toodles!
